Traditional Martial Arts. Mindful Movement. Better Balance.
With 15 years of involvement in Tai Chi and Qigong, Cathy combines an interest in traditional Chinese martial arts with a passion for health, movement and wellbeing.
Tai Chi is an internal martial art that develops balance, coordination, posture, body awareness and controlled movement. Behind its slow, flowing movements are traditional martial principles involving structure, timing, relaxation and the efficient use of energy.
Qigong complements Tai Chi through breathing exercises, focused awareness and coordinated movements.
Tai Chi & Qigong Forms
Our classes cover a range of Qigong sequences and traditional Yang-style Tai Chi forms:
- Shibashi Set 1 – 18 flowing Qigong movements.
- Shibashi Set 2 – A further sequence developing coordination and mindful movement.
- Ji Ben Set – Foundational movements and practice.
- Yang Style 13 Form – A shorter Tai Chi sequence exploring core principles.
- Yang Style 24 Form – The popular simplified Yang-style sequence.
- Yang Style 37 Form – A further traditional sequence developing continuity and control.
These forms offer opportunities to explore both the martial principles of Tai Chi and its wider applications for movement, relaxation and wellbeing.

A Personal Journey

This experience strengthened her interest in sharing these traditional practices with others.
